This past Saturday, the Jr. High Oklahoma Patriots defeated the Regent Preparatory School Rams 56-14 to push their record to 5-0. The Rams offense started the game but quickly turned it over on downs. The Patriots took over and started the game off right, with a rushing TD credited to #44 Cameron Branch the PAT(point after touchdown) was good and the Patriots had an 8-0 lead. The next Patriots possession Branch made a huge play on 4th down to set up a TD pass from QB Bryce Daniels to Branch, and the 2 point conversion made the score 16-0.
On the ensuing Rams possession Daniels made an interception to set up another Patriot TD by Branch making the score 22-0. Next, #10 Johnson Miller made a huge run for the Patriots, however after that the Patriots fumbled the ball and the Rams recovered. The Rams offense took over, turned it over on downs again, which set up another Patriot touchdown, by Branch, making the score 28-0 heading into the half.
At the beginning of the second half, the Patriots threw an interception setting up a Regent TD from #11 to cut the Patriot lead to 22. The Patriots offense came out with a big run by Daniels to set up a TD from #12 Thomas Jenson which along with the PAT made the score 36-6. On the kickoff, the Rams ran it all the way back for a TD and converted the PAT so the score was 36-14. Then the Rams seemed to have a chance to make this a game, due to a fumble on the kickoff by the Patriots, which the Rams recovered. However, they again turned the ball over on downs, and the Patriots took over. Branch made another huge run, almost scoring another TD, but was tackled around the 1. This created a tense moment in the game as Branch did not immediately get up after the tackle. He left the game and did not return the rest of the night. When the game started back up the Patriots turned over the ball on a fumble.
Regent had yet another chance to make this a game. Their QB took the snap released the ball and….. it was intercepted by Bryce Daniels and ran back for a TD and the score was now 42-14. On the ensuing kickoff #86 Ben Nelson recover the muffed ball for the Patriots. Jenson then stiff-armed his way back into the end zone, and with the PAT the score was 50-14. The Patriots recovered another fumble on the kickoff and #22 Zakry Crowell scored for the Pats which leaves us with our final score of 56-14, another Patriot win!
My player of the game goes to Branch for the second time in a row. He had four TDs and probably would have had more if not for the injury he sustained. Congrats to the Patriots on another win. Join us next week as the Patriots take on Tulsa NOAH to try and go 6-0. See ya there!
