For those of you who didn’t know it, we had our first practice on April 10, 2010. We had an overview of the offense and defense and learned several drills we will be doing this season.
Our next and likely last Saturday practice will be next Saturday at the practice field from 8:30 to 11:30 on May 8, 2010. If you think there is even a possibility that you will play next season then you need to be at this practice. It will be shorts, t-shirts and cleats.
We will have a week of Spring Camp from May 17 to the 22nd. We plan to be in shorts, helmets, and shoulder pads for most if not all of this Spring Camp.
A bit of housekeeping: Each player needs to sign up for a free account on Hudl (Hudl sign up instructions are here) and this needs to be done before next Saturday. The player can use a parents email address or one of their own and there is a bit of a homework assignment to get use to Hudl (it is covered on the instructions). Hudl is a web based software that allows us to watch film. THE HOMEWORK IS TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO PRACTICE! Hudl cannot handle any sound so I also posted some videos with sound on the website (click here). These videos cover the concepts that were addressed during our first practice. There are seven videos and they are password protected, the password has already been sent to everyone on our email list. If you are not on our email list, please email us to let us know.
If you missed our first practice or are fuzzy on some of the things we covered, then you are expected to invest some time away from practice to view these videos and get up to speed on the concepts we covered. So here is an outline of who should watch what if you were not there:
We will be doing these drills plus building on them and I don’t want to spend the time to go back and explain any of them, so please be familiar before practice.
We are going to have a fun and rewarding season, I look forward to seeing you all there. If you have a conflict, please let me know.
Thanks,
Coach Sikes
