I sent an email out yesterday to just the players and parents we currently have signed up for the 2011 season.
The email you are receiving now has been sent to the broader audience of folks who want to keep up with the Patriots (including players and parents), and also to the non players and parents. We need to know if you SHOULD HAVE received yesterdays email but did not. We need to make sure that those who need to be on the list about changes in practice schedule and such do indeed receive the emails.
If you need to be added to the list that gets informed of practice schedule changes and such, please respond and note that you need any information about changes in team schedule etc. You only need to send an email with that request if you DID NOT receive yesterdays email.
Below is the email that went out yesterday.
At least for tomorrow night, let’s plan to start and end practice an hour later than we had originally planned. This will let the average temperature during practice drop a couple of degrees.
Sorry for this change, but these high temperatures are difficult to deal with. Parents be assured, we will be extremely careful as we know many of the players have not prepared themselves for the heat. They will adapt quickly, but for tomorrow night, Monday, August 1st we will practice 6:30 to 9:00.
School has not started, so I feel a bit more comfortable about this late time slot for this week. Some families are starting school next week, so I am doubtful that we will start and end this late next week.
I am hopeful that there will be a break in the weather by next week. We can’t afford to skip a week of practice so we must practice this week.
Please respond to this email IF this places your family in a hardship. As we try to determine what we do for the rest of the week, the feedback will be helpful. If this schedule change creates a challenge for too many of the families, then we need to consider that information.
Once again I am sorry, but it is for the safety of the players and coaches. And if you did not get the word yesterday, then START DRINKING WATER NOW! And each coach and player should bring their own jug of water or better yet something with electrolytes in it (Gatorade or Powerade or something). The team will provide water and plenty of breaks, but if everyone brings their own it will help the guys be able to get a drink ANYTIME they feel it is needed.
Tiffany Davis has done a great job of cleaning up the email lists, but lets don’t count on just that form of communication. Please communicate the change to others on the team so that everyone gets the word. If you know of someone who should have received this email, but did not, then let us know immediately.
Thanks,
Coach Sikes

Well it’s here, and its hot! We are going to have to take it a bit easier than normal. These temps are not normal and we will adjust our practice intensity accordingly.
Start drinking lots of extra water NOW. Don’t wait until Monday.
We will have water for the team, but each player (and coach) should bring their own individual water jugs with water and or sports drink. We will hydrate often.
We will be in shorts and shirts until the temps drop a few degrees, but we would be in shorts and shirts the first few days of practice anyway.
There will be a bit of administrative work to do on Monday, so be there a few minutes early if possible. We will start at 5:30 and be done at 8:00 sharp.
Play Hard, Act Right!

This past Friday, the Oklahoma Jr. High Patriots fell to the Dallas HSAA Blue Angels 20-6.
The game started with the Patriots receiving the kickoff. The Patriots tried to get down the field and score but were unsuccessful as #28 of the Blue Angels intercepted the ball. That play was immediately followed by a Blue Angel TD by #20 which made the score 6-0.
On the next Patriots possession the ball was again intercepted, this time by #25 of the Blue Angels. This interception was followed by a TD reception by #25 which pushed the Blue Angel lead to 12. The Patriots got the ball back but, turned it over on downs ending the 1st quarter.
The ensuing Blue Angels drive was a decent one but they too turned it over on downs. The Patriots again got the ball and couldn’t score so the Blue Angels got the ball back. A huge run by #20 set up another TD reception by #25 and with the PAT made the score 20-0. The Patriots again took over but couldn’t move the ball and the Blue Angels again took possession of the ball. The Blue Angels had a great drive and just when it looked like they were about to score…….. they fumbled, however they recovered but the play did result in a loss of yards. Then #82 Matthew Lamberth of the Patriots brought the QB to the ground for a sack ending the first half.
To start the second half each team had a possession and each team couldn’t score. So now, the Blue Angels had the ball and were ready to score once again. However #10 Johnson Miller of the Patriots didn’t see that happening as he stepped in front of a Blue Angel pass to not only intercept it but run it back for TD, this made the score 20-6. When the Blue Angels offense took over the Patriots forced a fumble and recovered it, they had a chance to squeeze their way back in the game. The Patriots offense took the field and they were ready, #44 Cameron Branch picked up a key first down which ended the third quarter.
To start the 4th the Patriots stepped back to pass and……… it was pulled down by #28 of the Blue Angels for their third interception of the game! It looked as if the game was over for the Patriots, but then, the Patriots defense forced another fumble and the game instantly got a lot more interesting. However the fans soon lost their recently gained interest, as the Patriots quickly turned the ball over on downs. The Blue Angels offense also turned the ball over on downs and the Patriots had one last shot. They again couldn’t take advantage of this and turned the ball over on downs. This leaves us with our final score of 20-6 as the Patriots lose their last game of the season.
My player of the game goes to Johnson Miller as he was really the only bright spot for the Patriots with his interception and TD. Congrats to the Patriots on a great season as they went 6-3 and were absolutely great to watch. This is it for this season but please join us next season for another great year of football.

This past Friday the Jr. High Oklahoma Patriots were defeated for only the second time this season by the Springfield Chargers with a final score of 20-12.
The game didn’t start out so great for the Patriots but it did for the Chargers as #36 hauled in a long pass to set up the first touchdown by #49, making the score 6-0 in favor of the Chargers. The Patriots offense took over on the ensuing kickoff but couldn’t do much and had to punt. Shortly after, #36 of the Chargers caught another ball for the second TD making the score 12-0.
The Patriots next offense drive started but then Bryce Daniels threw an interception which was returned for a touchdown. Luckily, for the Patriots, the TD was brought back by a block in the back penalty. Unfortunately, #49 ran the ball in for his second TD and the PAT was good making the score 20-0. Our offense took over again and #82 Matthew Lamberth caught a nice pass for the Patriots and it looked as if we might score before the half. The Charger defense denied us when they snagged a pass for another INT. This left many Patriots fans in shock as at halftime their team was down 20-0.
The third quarter started and ended quickly as each team had a possession and each team turned it over on downs. In the beginning of the 4th quarter the Patriots drove the ball down to the goaline and QB Bryce Daniel ran the ball to give the Patriots their first TD. This made the score 20-6. On the ensuing kickoff the Chargers fumbled the ball but they recovered. Although, that wasn’t going to stop a stingy Patriots defense from making a huge stop on 4th down to regain possession of the ball. The Patriots were in the zone on this drive! Daniels stepped back to pass and Lamberth makes a one-handed grab to earn a first down for the Patriots. Daniels then passed to #52 Regan Hurley who made another nice catch for the Patriots. Daniels then went to Hurley again and this time it was for a TD to cut the Charger lead to 8.
The Patriots then tried an onside kick, but failed to recover. It was up to the Patriots defense to get a stop here. They did a nice job holding them and it was now 4th down. The Chargers handed the ball off and it was close……… but it was just short of the first down marker and the Patriots now had a chance to tie the game!
When the Patriots took over #44 Cameron Branch took the handoff on the reverse and picked up a key first down for the Patriots. On the next play the Patriots tried a pass and it was…. intercepted by #7 of the Chargers! This put the game out of reach and leaves us with our final score of 20-12 as the Patriots fall to 6-2 on the season.
This was by far the best Patriots game I’ve watched all season, and it would heve been even better if they would have won. My player of the game is the entire Patriots team as I feel it wouldn’t be fair to name just one player. The whole team was just outstanding, the defense made key stops, and the offense took advantage of those stops, it was a great example of team football.
Join us next week as we travel all the way to Dallas for our last game of the season to take on the Dallas HSAA Angels to try end the season with a record of 7-2. See Ya there!

This past Thursday, the Oklahoma Jr. High Patriots beat the Mt. St. Mary’s Rockets 36-16 to push their record to 6-1. The Patriots started the game on offense and #44 Cameron Branch picked up a first down for the Patriots. Then, #10 Johnson Miller broke through the defense for the first Patriots TD, which with the PAT made the score 8-0 in favor of the Patriots. When the Rocket’s offense took over Miller made another great play when he intercepted the ball. Miller then caught a pass to pick up another Patriots first down. #32 Stephen Dellinger then picked up a first down and then…… #87 of the Rockets intercepted the pass, the Rockets took over but failed to score.
Next, QB Bryce Daniels ran the ball in for the Patriots second TD of the game, and the PAT made the score 16-0. The Rockets took over but again failed to score. On the ensuing Patriots possession, Branch made a huge run that set up a Patriot touchdown, the 2 points were good and the score was 24-0. The Rockets came out on offense but fumbled and the Patriots recovered. The fumble set up a Dellinger TD which made the score 30-0, which would be the score at the half.
To start the second half #41 got a first down for the Rockets, which was followed by a touchdown, also by #41, the PAT made the score 30-8. On the kickoff Branch returned the ball a lengthy distance, however the Patriots fumbled and the Rockets recovered. Rockets player #18 then rumbled into the end zone for the Rockets and with the PAT the score was 30-16. When the Patriots offense took over Dellinger contributed with a first down that set up a Patriots TD which leaves us with our final score of 36-16. Another Patriots win!
My player of the game goes to Johnson Miller who scored the Patriots first TD of the game and made a great interception. He fought hard and deserves this recognition. This wraps up the summary of a great game. Join us next week as the Patriots take on the Springfield Chargers to try to push their recored to 7-1. See ya there!

This past Friday, the Oklahoma Jr. High Patriots suffered their first loss of the season as they fell 8-6 at the hands of the Tulsa NOAH Jaguars on a cold October night. This brings their record to 5-1, ending the Patriots bid for an undefeated season.
At the beginning of the game, #44 Cameron Branch took the kickoff out to the 45 yard line for the Patriots, but that possession ended abruptly with a punt. When the Jaguars took over #20 made a huge play on third down that resulted in a first down. Then, as #16 steps back to make a pass for the Jaguars, #94 Payton Capers made a great play as he deflected a pass and nearly intercepted it. Next, when the Patriots got the ball back, they handed it off to #32 Stephen Dellinger who got the Patriots a first down. The first quarter then ended with a score of 0-0.
Quarterback #21 Bryce Daniels ran for another first down for the Patriots, and Dellinger picked up another one, however the Patriots failed to score on this drive. The Jaguars got the ball back, but turned it over on downs. This took us to halftime where the score remained 0-0.
To start the third quarter, the Jaguars drove the down to the goal line, fumbled, and the Patriots took over, but were soon forced to punt. On their ensuing possession, the Patriots fumbled giving the Jaguars the ball. Then, as #16 stepped back to pass he lets go and… its intercepted by #30 Gabe Tipton of the Patriots! The crowd roared with excitement as the Patriots had a chance to score here in the fourth quarter! Dellinger got the Patriots just what they needed, a first down. Then Daniels takes the snap, steps back to pass, and releases…. its a touchdown by Branch, and the Patriots take a 6-0 lead!
However, the Jaguars still had a chance to tie or even possibly win the game. Jaguars #16 takes the snap, steps back, heaves the ball up in the air, and somehow, someway its pulled down by a Jaguar receiver for a game tying TD! The Patriots defense is now focused on one thing, stopping the Jaguars from getting the PAT. It was difficult to see whether or not the Jaguars got the conversion, but the refs ruled it good, and the Jaguars took an 8-6 lead.
The Patriots now had one last opportunity to win the game. Daniels stepped back, threw the ball which, unfortunately, was intercepted by #16 (the same Jaguar that threw their TD) putting the game away. Leaving us with our final score 8-6, a Patriots loss.
My player of the game goes to Gabe Tipton who made a key interception to set up the Patriots TD that gave them the lead. This was a hard fought game and I was sorry to see it end. Be there Thursday Oct. 15th, as the Patriots take on Mt. St. Mary’s to try to get back on a winning streak. See ya there!
